Season stats: 0.82 ERA, 29 strikeouts, .471 batting average

The lowdown: Three weeks ago, Giannie threw a combined nine innings, allowing two unearned runs while striking out 17 in wins over Bayshore Christian and Cambridge Christian. Fans paid attention. Giannie had 54 percent of the votes (3,221) in the Hernando County baseball player of the year poll to beat out Nature Coast’s Christopher Moss, who had 43 percent (2,556).
