The lowdown: Three weeks ago, Lyons allowed three runs (one earned) with 13 strikeouts on the mound and went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI at the plate in a win over Brooks DeBartolo. Fans took notice. Lyons had 39 percent of the votes (735) in the Hernando County softball player of the year poll to beat out Springstead’s Ava Miller, who had 35 percent (660 votes).
