Avery Powers, Fr., Berkeley Prep

Position: Pitcher

Season stats: 1.08 ERA, 85 strikeouts

The lowdown: Three weeks ago, Powers threw a no-hitter (one hit batter away from a perfect game) and recorded 22 strikeouts in a 10-inning win over Tampa Catholic. She also allowed one earned run and finished with seven strikeouts in a win over previously unbeaten Palm Harbor University.  Fans were impressed. Powers had 36 percent of the votes (951) in the Hillsborough County softball player of the week poll to beat out Bloomingdale’s Natalie Cable, who had 26 percent (705 votes).

Abby Lucas, Jr., Plant: Went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored in a loss to Lakeland George Jenkins.

Kohana Pousson, Jr., Robinson: Threw a four-hitter, allowing one unearned run while striking out eight on the mound and going 2-for-4 with a homer at the plate in a semifinal win over Lakeland McKeel Academy at the Bay Made Fastpitch Invitational.
