Season stats: .324 batting average, five RBIs

The lowdown: Two weeks ago, Crawford went a combined 4-for-6 with two RBIs and a run scored in two games against Sunlake. Fans were impressed. Crawford had 33 percent of the votes (355) in the Pasco County baseball player of the week poll to beat out Wiregrass Ranch’s Cannon Hinkle, who had 25 percent (268 votes).

The Wildcats are starting to put things together. Monday’s victory over Marathon was their second straight to improve their record to 6-4. Trailing 3-2, Academy at the Lakes rallied with two runs each in the fifth and sixth inning thanks to an offense that delivered with 10 hits.

River Ridge

After starting the season 2-3, the Royal Knights have won six of their last seven games. The lone loss in that span came against Mitchell in the final of last week’s Farm Bureau Classic. River Ridge rebounded from that setback to cruise to a 14-1 victory over Hudson on Tuesday. It marked the fourth time in the past six games the Royal Knights have scored six or more runs.

Ethan Channa, Jr., Wesley Chapel

Led the Wildcats by throwing five scoreless, no-hit innings and recording 10 strikeouts in a win over Pasco. He was two walks and a hit batter away from being perfect for the night.
