Peyton Hoffman, Sr., Seminole

Position: Shortstop

Season stats: .450 batting average, five RBIs

The lowdown: Three weeks ago, Hoffman went a combined 5-for-6 with two RBIs and three runs scored in wins over Largo and Dunedin. Fans took notice. Hoffman had 32 percent of the votes (682) in the Pinellas County softball player of the week poll to beat out Osceola’s Addison Futch, who had 26 percent (548).

The Warriors took home the title at the Leopard Slam after beating Hernando 1-0 in nine innings in the semifinals and cruising to a 5-0 win over River Ridge in the final. Calvary Christian currently is on an eight-game win streak.

The two were named co-MVPs after leading the Warriors to the title at the Leopard Slam. Cushman went a combined 8-for-14 with three doubles and eight runs scored. Talley threw a combined 15 scoreless innings, allowing nine hits while striking out 22 in a pair of wins over Hernando.

After losing each of its first seven games by double digits, the Barons snapped that streak with their first win of the season. Just as memorable was the score. St. Petersburg Catholic won 39-32. Trailing 15-9 after two innings, the Barons put the game away by scoring a combined 30 runs in the next two innings.

The Eagles snapped a three-game losing streak with an impressive performance against Countryside. It didn’t take long for East Lake to take control of the game.
