Holtje had 42 percent of the votes (979) in the Hillsborough County softball player of the week poll to beat out Berkeley Prep’s Kaia Cortes, who had 30 percent (702 votes).

Steinbrenner wins Lady Canes’ Invitational
The Warriors were dominant at the Lady Canes Invitational, beating Sarasota Riverview, Tampa Catholic, Land O’ Lakes and Bartow by a combined 34-6. In the final, Steinbrenner handed the Yellow Jackets their only loss of the season. The Warriors had 10 hits in the 9-2 win, including three from Makenzie Reynolds and two each from Madi Frey and Lily Holtje.
