The lowdown: Last month, Cushman was named Co-MVP of the Leopard Slam after going a combined 8-for-14 with three doubles and eight runs scored to lead the Warriors to the tournament title. Fans took notice. Cushman had 45 percent of the votes (699) in the Pinellas County player of the week poll to beat out Palm Harbor University’s Emma Shipley, who had 40 percent (628).
