Jerome Ford, a former Armwood star who helped Cincinnati reach the FBS playoffs for the first time this past season, was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the NFL Draft.

Ford is the sixth player from Hillsborough County to be taken in the draft this weekend.

An Alabama transfer, Ford gave the Bearcats some oomph in their running game. As a senior, he rushed for 1,319 yards and 19 touchdowns. Ford also averaged 6.1 yards per carry during his career with Cincinnati.
