Hillsborough County softball player of the week – April 25-29

Here are the nominees for the Hillsborough County softball player of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Saturday. 

Aleena Jones, So., Alonso: Threw a combined six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and finishing with four strikeouts, on the mound and went a combined 4-for-5 with a double, triple and homer to go along with five RBIs and five runs at the plate in wins over Hillsborough and Chamberlain. 

Gracie Murphy, So., Berkeley Prep: Went a combined 6-for-8 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored in wins over Academy at the Lakes and Indian Rocks Christian. 

P/INF Saige Sampson, So., Steinbrenner: Threw a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts in a win over Sumner. 

2B/SS Kacey Scott, Fr., Academy of the Holy Names: Ended up going 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored in a win over Academy at the Lakes. 

UTIL Savana Woods, So., Lennard: Threw 10 scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out 21, on the mound and went a combined 6-for-7 with three doubles, five RBIs and three runs scored in wins over Armwood and Jefferson.
