Baseball: Class 5A region semifinal rewind — may 13

Hollins 4, River Ridge 3

The Royals, who won their first conference title since 1991 and their district title since 1996, continued their charmed run by rallying to beat River Ridge in the region semifinals.

Unlike the conference and district final and the first round of the playoffs, Hollins did need extra innings to win.

Still, there were some tense moments.

Trailing 3-0, the Royals scored four runs in the fourth inning to go ahead, then held on to win.

Prime time performers

Colin Lemons, So., Hollins: Hit a two-run homer to ignite the Royals’ rally in the fourth inning.

Kenney Robinson, Jr., Hollins: Threw a five-hitter, allowing three earned runs while finishing with nine strikeouts.

Jesuit 14, Seminole 2

The Tigers are capable of big numbers at any point. So when they fell behind 2-0 in the top of the inning, there was no cause for panic.

By the end of the second inning, Jesuit was ahead 10-2.

In all, the Tigers had 15 hits, including five players who had multiple hits.
