Plant 2, Windermere 0

The Panthers pitching depth paid off with a trip to the state semifinals. Plant has allowed a combined two runs in three playoff games. The offense delivered with five hits and two timely runs. 

Prime time performers

Thomas Bolton, Sr., Plant: Threw a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts. 

Robert Satin, Jr., Plant: Went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Class 6A

Sickles 6, Strawberry Crest 0

Scoreless through four innings, the Gryphons broke the game open with four runs in the fifth and added another in the sixth to reach the state semifinals. 

Prime time performers

Justin Allen, Jr., Sickles: Hit a grand slam in the fifth inning that gave the Gryphons the lead for good. 

Caden McDonald, Jr., Sickles: Threw 6 ⅓ scoreless innings, allowing two hits and finishing with four strikeouts. 

Zachary Redner, Jr., Strawberry Crest: Ended up going 2-for-3. 

Bryce Vance, Jr., Sickles: Went 2-for-3.

Sickles (24-6) vs. Doral Academy (24-3-1), 1

Class 5A

Jesuit 16, Hollins 1

The Tigers’ offense delivered, smacking five home runs as they jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first inning, which was more than enough to advance to the state semifinals for the first time since 2019. 

Prime time performers

Jamie Arnold, Sr., Jesuit: Threw three perfect innings with three strikeouts. 

Ryland Bozenhard, Jr., Hollins: Ended up with a double and a run scored. 

Grant Jordan, Jr., Jesuit: Had a pair of homers to go along with three RBIs and three runs scored. 

Jake Kulikowski, Jr., Jesuit: Went 3-for-4 with two homers, four RBIs and two runs scored. 

AJ Nessler, Sr., Jesuit: Hit a grand slam and finished with five RBIs.

Thursday’s state semifinal schedule (at Fort Myers’ Hammond Stadium)

Jesuit (22-8) vs. Naples (22-9), 1

Class 4A

Dunedin 4, Hernando 1

The Falcons, thanks to solid pitching, are returning to the state semifinals. They scored twice in the third inning, and added a run each in the fourth and fifth to provide enough cushion for the win.

Trey Beard, Jr., Dunedin: Threw a one-hitter, allowing one unearned run and finishing with nine strikeouts. 

Jessiah Branch, Sr., Dunedin: Had a double and a run scored. 

Bryan Loos, Jr., Dunedin: Powered the Falcons’ offense with a triple, a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Dunedin (22-8) vs. Jensen Beach (25-4), 7

Class 3A

Berkeley Prep 8, Lakeland Christian 5

After getting past rival Calvary Christian in the region semifinals, the Buccaneers had to get past another tough opponent. Berkeley Prep jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first inning, then held on to reach the state semifinals.

Wyatt Ewanowski, Jr., Berkeley Prep: Had a homer, three runs scored and two RBIs. 

Cade Kurland, Jr., Berkeley Prep: Went 2-for-2 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored. 

James Hankerson, Jr., Berkeley Prep: Hit a grand slam in the first inning to ignite the Buccaneers offense.
