Outlook

This is a rematch from last year’s state semifinal game that the Mustangs lost 5-2. Mitchell outhit Doral Academy 4-3 in that semifinal but left 12 runners on base. The painful memories of that loss served as a powerful motivator. Now, the Mustangs get their shot at revenge. Mitchell heads into the rematch on a four-game win streak. In each of the last two playoff games, the Mustangs have rallied from early deficits to win. It will not be easy reaching the final. The Firebirds are ranked first in the class and third overall in the state by MaxPreps. They have won their three playoff games by a combined 31-2.
