Calvary Christian’s Dion Weaver, who took over the softball program this season and led the Warriors to its first state title, was named the Class 3A coach of the year by the Florida Dairy Farmers.
Weaver guided Calvary Christian to a 24-6 record this season. The Warriors were a district runnerup and won all five playoff games on the road, culminating with a victory over Hernando in the 3A title game.
The winners in each classification were selected through voting from a statewide panel of softball coaches and media representatives. They are now eligible to be named the overall winner in the state, which will go through another round of voting and likely be announced later this week.
