Eugene Wilson, one of the state’s most dynamic playmakers, made his college plans known by committing to Florida.

The Gaither senior is rated the 10th-best athlete in the nation and the 30th-best player in Florida in 2023 class by 247 Sports. He had more than 20 offers before whittling his list down to the Gators and Texas A&M.

Wilson III becomes the second local prospect in the 2023 class to commit to Florida, joining Lakewood edge rusher Isaiah Nixon. It also continues the Gators momentum after picking up commitments from Jacksonville Trinity Christian running back Treyaun Webb and Ponte Vedra Beach Nease quarterback Marcus Stokes on Thursday.

Last season, Wilson III finished with 62 receptions for 925 yards and seven touchdowns.
