Outlook

Bob Dare, who previously coached at Northside Christian and Cambridge Christian, was hired to help revive a program that went 0-8 last season. He takes over for Ken Stills, who lasted two seasons. After spending a year on probation, Bishop McLaughlin has been reinstated by the Florida High School Athletic Association and is eligible for the playoffs. Competing for a postseason berth will be tough in a district that includes Carrollwood Day, Clearwater Central Catholic and Seffner Christian, all playoff teams from last year. That task was made even more challenging with four starters transferring to other schools, including quarterback Matthew Dehart, who is now at Central. Jacob Coster and Brady McGovern are battling for the starting quarterback spot. No matter who emerges, the two will see playing, though it might be at other positions. With roughly 20 players in the spring and summer, the Hurricanes are going to have plenty starting on both sides of the ball.
