Outlook

St. Petersburg coach Denis Gillem went through some growing pains by allowing young players to have prominent roles The Green Devils took their lumps, winning one game each of the past two seasons. “Many of our kids were sophomores when we began to build and have high expectations this season,” Gillem said. St. Petersburg went into the offseason needing to find a replacement for quarterback Evan Jacobson, who transferred to Northeast. The solution was to turn to Jeffrey Jones, a versatile athlete who led the team last year with 553 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Adam Badouni (two pancake blocks last season) anchors the offensive line. Jamal McNealy (48 tackles) and Evan Aikens (two interceptions) are the leaders on defense.
