Basketball: Jesuit’s Max Sims transfers to IMG

Max Sims, who averaged 10 points and 3.5 rebounds at Jesuit last season, announced he is transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton.

Sims said he made the move to prepare for the next level.

“It’s a successful program that’s close to home that will allow me to get better and play at a high level of competition,” Sims said of IMG. “Coaches there have multiple connections, which will allow me to have more college opportunities. Their schedule is like a college schedule, and I’ll be prepared for what’s next.”

The senior made steady improvement each of his past two years, doubling his scoring average from his sophomore to junior seasons.

Sims continued to shine on the travel circuit this offseason.

The loss of Sims hurts the Tigers, especially on offense. They no longer have any returners who averaged double figures in scoring.
