Outlook

Gibbs did some impressive things last season. The Gladiators went 8-4, tying the 1982 team for the most wins in school history. Better still, Gibbs won a playoff game for just the second time ever. That magical run motivated the Gladiators, who aim to accomplish even more this season. The biggest playmakers are Sammy Miller Jr., who rushed for more than 1,200 yards on offense and had four interceptions on defense, and De’von Walton, who had more than 300 yards receiving and four picks. They will have to compensate for the loss of Tra’quan Johnson, a Tennessee Tech commit who said he has transferred to Lakewood. The player to watch on defense is Marcus Calvin, a Kansas commit who transformed himself from a basketball player into a coveted college prospect.
