Here are the nominees for the area volleyball team of the week (Aug. 22-27). Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Saturday. 

Alonso: The Ravens have made steady progress, going from two wins in 2020 to seven wins last year. In the opening week of this season, Alonso got off a perfect start by beating Freedom 3-1 and Chamberlain 3-0. 

Anclote: The Sharks started off the season by beating River Ridge for the first time on the road since 2015. Anclote followed that up by sweeping Hudson to keep its perfect start intact. 

Calvary Christian: The defending 3A state champions went undefeated the opening week, knocking off Oseola 3-1 and then sweeping defending 7A state champion Plant. 

East Bay: By sweeping Jefferson and Middleton the opening week, the Indians already equaled their win total from last season. . 

East Lake: The Eagles started off the season with quality wins against Land O’ Lakes (3-2) and St. Petersburg (3-1), both of which made the playoffs last season. 

Pinellas Park: The Patriots, who have posted winning records in consecutive seasons for the first time in more than a decade, continued their momentum by beating Boca Ciega (3-1) and Dunedin (3-0) to start this season. 

Tampa Prep: The Terrapins got off to a strong start with wins over Clearwater Central Catholic (3-1) and Bishop McLaughlin (3-0).
