Calvary Christian (1-0) at Carrollwood Day (1-1), 7

Down 13-12 at the half in last year’s meeting, the Warriors rallied by outscoring the Patriots 17-0 in the second half for their biggest win of the season. The key will be whether Carrollwood’s defense can stop Calvary Christian’s run game. Last year, the Warriors ran 240 yards and scored three touchdowns on the ground.

Clearwater Central Catholic (1-1) at Tampa Catholic (1-0), 7

Big-time rivalry game that features a pair of prolific offenses. The Marauders are averaging 25 points a game in splitting their first against quality competition (Berkeley Prep and Ocala Trinity Catholic). The Crusaders cruised in last week’s opener, routing Cypress Lake 73-0. 

Putnam’s pick: CCC 35-31

East Lake (1-1) at Pinellas Park (1-1), 7:30

Both teams won last week to get back to .500. They were able to rebound by getting their offenses on track. East Lake stuck to the ground game with Luke Yoder gaining 148 yards in a win over Mitchell. Pinellas Park went to the air with Eric Triplett finishing with 13 catches in a win over Boca Ciega. 

Putnam’s pick: East Lake 21-14

Homestead (2-0) at Lakewood (1-1), 7:30

The Spartans are trying to rebound after losing to Palm Beach Central last week. It will not be easy. Lakewood Homestead, which is ranked 20th overall in the state and sixth in Class 3 in Metro by MaxPreps.

Largo (1-0) at Boca Ciega (1-1), 7:30

The Packers, who shut out Pinellas Park in their opener, remain undefeated after last week’s game against powerhouse Lakeland was canceled because of the weather. The Pirates are trying to bounce back after getting shut out by the Patriots last week.
