PTP Campus Tour Preview: Robinson at Plant

Robinson (2-1) at Plant (1-2), 7:30

Three things to know

South Tampa Tradition

The annual grudge match between the South Tampa public schools goes back decades.

Plant has owned the series recently, winning 16 straight with all but one decided by double digits.

Robinson’s last win came in 2004. But the Knights are showing signs of making the rivalry more competitive.

Last season, Robinson stayed within striking distance, trailing 8-0 before allowing two more scores in the fourth quarter in a 20-0 loss.

And the Knights head into the latest installment with a better record than the Panthers.

Scoring frenzy

There could be plenty of points between these prolific offenses.

After all, both teams are averaging more than 29 points per game.

The ability to score has a lot to do with the production of the quarterbacks, Robinson’s Eric Archield Jr. and Plant’s Trey O’Malley, who each rank among the  top 11 in the area in passing yards.

Archield has thrown for a combined 434 yards and five touchdowns in three games. O’Malley has thrown for 497 and four touchdowns.

Clark,a sophomore, has rushed for 205 yards and five touchdowns and added 157 yards and two more scores receiving.
