Football: The Pasco County Friday night forecast, Week 5 — Sept. 23

Check it out

Strawberry Crest (4-0) at Zephyrhills Christian (2-0), 7

The undefeated Chargers have a short week after shutting out Leto on Monday. To stay perfect, Strawberry Crest will have to knock off the host Warriors on the road in what will be its toughest game so far this season. Zephyrhills Christian is trying to rebound after losing two straight to quality programs, Land O’ Lakes and Lakeland Christian.

Putnam’s pick: Strawberry Crest 27-23

Central (3-1) at Gulf, (2-2) 7:30

The Bears, who snapped a 24-game losing streak, have won three straight. Another victory and Central will have its most wins in a season since 2016. That could be a challenge against the Buccaneers, winners of two straight.

Putnam’s pick: Central 28-20

Mitchell (3-1) at South Sumter (4-0), 7:30

When the Mustangs win, they are dominant, outscoring foes by a combined 139-6. Prevailing by another lopsided will be tough. After all, the undefeated Raiders are ranked fourth in Class 2 of the Suburban Division by MaxPreps.

Putnam’s pick: South Sumter 24-20
