Lakewood’s football team was set to travel to Delray Beach to face Atlantic tonight. 

But the Spartans were unable to play because of transportation issues, Pinellas County athletic director Al Bennett said. 

According to Bennett, Lakewood had one bus secured and ordered another to accommodate the team, which has 70 players listed on its MaxPreps roster. 

Due to a clerical issue, unrelated to our football team, we will not be able to travel to tonight’s game in Delray Beach.

Trouble was, the Spartans were unable to get a driver for the second bus, Bennett said.

It is unclear whether the cancellation will result in a forfeit for Lakewood, which currently is 2-2.
