Hurricane Ian has already forced nearly every public and private school in the Tampa Bay area to close schools. All public schools and nearly every private school in Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties are closed the remainder of the week.

As a result, practices and games for fall sports have cancelled or postponed during the duration of those closures. That includes varsity football games.

Hillsborough County athletic director Lanness Robinson said all games where county public schools are playing one another.

Some Pasco County games also are being played on Monday.

Pinellas County, which waited until after Hurricane Ian passed to determine when to schedule games, will play all but one game involving public schools on Monday. Anclote at Tarpon Springs will be played on Tuesday.
