Wharton’s Dijon Johnson commits to Florida

After months of anticipation, Wharton cornerback Dijon Johnson made his college plans known by announcing his commitment to Florida.

Johnson (photo above courtesy of Karl Greeson Tampa Photos) was initially committed to Ohio State but reneged on that pledge this summer. Since then, there had been plenty of speculation on where the four-star prospect would land.

The recruiting experts, nearly all of whom predicted Johnson would become a Gator, were correct on the decision.

Johnson, who had offers from every major program in the country, is the third local from the 2023 class to commit to Florida, joining Gaither receiver Eugene Wilson III and Lakewood edge rusher Isaiah Nixon.

The Gators’ local haul could continue.

Berkeley Prep defensive end Keon Keeley, a five-star recruit who decommitted from Ohio State, still has Florida among his short list of potential schools.

This season, Johnson has 10 tackles and one interception in helping the Wildcats start 5-1.
