Volleyball: Army Tampa Bay area team of the week — Nov. 1-5

Here are the nominees for the Tampa Bay area volleyball team of the week, sponsored by the Army. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Monday. 

Academy of the Holy Names: The Jaguars’ fourth straight state semifinal appearance was a successful one with a win over Miami St. Brenden to reach the final for the first time since 1997. 

Clearwater Central Catholic: The Marauders made it back to the state final for the first time since 2014 after knocking off Sarasota Cardinal Mooney in the region final and Ocala Trinity Catholic in the state semifinals. 

Keswick Christian: The Crusaders’ 11-match win streak ended with a loss to defending state champion Naples Seacrest Country Day in the region final. 

Land O’ Lakes: The Gators made the state semifinals for the first time since 1987 after sweeping rival Mitchell in the region final. 

Osceola: The Warriors, whose season ended against Naples Barron Collier, made the region final for the second straight season 

Plant: The defending state champion Panthers lost in five sets to host Venice in the region final. 

Wesley Chapel: The Wildcats took the next step by beating defending state finalist Merritt Island in five sets in the region final to reach the state semifinals.
