Football: Tonight’s Class 2 preview (Suburban) — Nov. 11

Class 2S

2022 FHSAA Football State Championships 2 S

Friday’s area quarterfinal matchup
No. 4 Hudson (8-2) at No. 5 Nature Coast (7-3), 7

This is a rematch from a game the Sharks won 31-13 two months ago. That decisive victory helped Nature Coast eventually clinch the Class 2-11 district title.

In that game, the Sharks ran for 265 yards and three touchdowns, including 88 and two scores from Christian Cromer and 75 and a touchdown from Jayden Skipper.

Nature Coast’s defense was just as dominant, holding the Cobras to 128 yards of offense. Brady Nolan led the Sharks with 15 tackles and a sack.

Since that loss, Hudson has been one of the hottest teams in the area, winning six straight to close out the regular season.

During that streak, the Cobras averaged 43 points per game.

Hudson has plenty of playmakers on offense with quarterback Riley Blevens (2,007 yards, 26 touchdowns), running back Logan Shawell (944 yards, 12 touchdowns) and receiver AJ McFarlane (824 yards, 12 touchdowns).

The Sharks also have been on a roll with five straight wins heading into the postseason.
