Outlook

The Hurricanes had to do some rebuilding after graduating all five starters from last year’s team that went 15-8 and reached the semifinals of the district tournament.

But Palm Harbor University should still be competitive with a solid nucleus that includes Christine Costalas, Anna Markos and Kayleigh Sideris.

Costalas is an excellent shooter who set the school record for most 3-pointers in a game with nine last season.

And the Hurricanes got a boost with the addition of Leah Barker, a 6-foot-5 freshman who will provide an inside presence.

“After losing our five senior starters we had a lot of work to put in,” PHU coach Niki Rougier said. “We have a lot of competitive games on our schedule this year. Once we hit our stride I believe we have the ability to finish the season strong.

“My 2023 seniors have really stepped up. Our team culture and chemistry is really what’s going to set us apart as the season progresses.”.
