Berkeley Prep’s Keon Keeley, one of the top recruits in the county, made his college plans official by committing to Alabama.

Keeley, a five-star recruit who is ranked as the top edge rusher in the country and as the state’s No. 2 overall prospect in the 2023 class by 247Sports, was initially committed to Notre Dame but reneged on that pledge in the summer.

He was deciding between Ohio State and Florida among others. Keeley becomes the Crimson Tide’s first area commit in the 2023 class.

This past season, Keeley had 40 tackles, 17 sacks and five forced fumbles to lead a defensive front that was among the best in the area. He also helped the Buccaneers reach the region semifinals.
