Boys soccer: Hillsborough County player of the week — Jan. 16-21

Here are the nominees for the Hillsborough County boys soccer player of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Friday. 

Joseph Borchers, Sr., Steinbrenner: Ended up with two goals in a win over Strawberry Crest. 

Angel Guerra, Sr., Plant City: Assisted on four goals in a win over Freedom. 

Johnny Herrera, Sr., Lennard: Led the Longhorns with three goals and an assist in a win over Gaither. 

Nelson Ramirez, So., Spoto: Recorded both of the Spartans goals in a win over Leto. 

Nikolas Ramos, So., Winthrop College Prep: Finished with three goals and two assists in a win over North Tampa Christian. 

Kyle Smith, Sr., Newsome: Scored the Wolves’ lone goal in regulation off an assist from Stephen Gilbert to send the match to overtime and help his team eventually beat rival Bloomingdale in penalty kicks in the Western Conference final.
