Football: Largo’s Adarius Hayes commits to Florida — Jan. 28

Largo’s Adarius Hayes, one of the nation’s most coveted recruits, always had Florida among his top college choices.

On Saturday, the Packers’ linebacker made it official by announcing his commitment to the Gators via social media.

Hayes, a four-star prospect, is ranked as the nation’s seventh-best edge rusher and 12th-best overall player in the state in the 2024 class according to 247 Sports’ composite list.

He picked Florida over offers from 18 other prominent schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State. Hayes also becomes the Gators’ first area commitment in the 2024 class.

Last season, Hayes recorded 121 tackles and six forced fumbles in leading the Packers to the Class 3 region finals in the Metro Division.
