Fort Myers Canterbury at Mitchell, 5

Both teams made the playoffs last season. The Mustangs got off to an impressive start, beating Cypress Creek and Land O’ Lakes by a combined 43-3 to open the season. The Cougars are playing in their opener tonight. 

Steinbrenner at Naples Gulf Coast, 5:30

For those willing to travel, this is a game worth checking out. The Warriors travel to Naples to take on Gulf Coast in a rematch from last year’s Class 2A region final that the Sharks won. Both teams are undefeated. Steinbrenner recorded a shutout (15-0) over Bloomingdale in its opener. Gulf Coast opened up with an 18-0 victory over Immokalee.  

Palm Harbor University at Northside Christian, 7

This is a rematch from last season’s opener that the Mustangs won 8-5. Both teams enter unbeaten. Palm Harbor University beat St. Petersburg Catholic 15-3 and Admiral Farragut 10-2. The host Mustangs got past St. Petersburg 10-7.
