Football: Jacob Coulson steps down at Bloomingdale to take over at Lecanto

Bloomingdale’s Jacob Coulson announced that he is stepping down as football coach to take over the program at Lecanto.

In four years, Coulson went 29-16 with the Bulls and made two playoff appearances (2019-20), including a trip to the state semifinals three years ago.

“I love the kids and the community at Bloomingdale,” Coulson said. “This was just a better fit for my family.”

Citrus County has middle school football and there is an elementary and middle school within the community at Lecanto, all of which played a role in Coulson wanting to make the move.

“I’m from a small town in Texas, and the way things are set up in Citrus County and at Lecanto are better aligned to what I’m used to growing up.”

Coulson will stay on at Bloomingdale through Spring Break. He will teach physical education and weight training at Lecanto.

There is no timetable yet on finding Coulson’s replacement at Bloomingdale.
