Outlook

Alonso has done some impressive things the past two seasons.

The Ravens compiled a 35-2 record and made a region semifinal and region final appearance in that span.

Three of those four losses were to Newsome, the last one by a point in overtime in the Class 2A region final.

Now, Alonso is in position to get past its county backed on the production returning from last season.

Mieke Rowe, who threw for 5,091 yards and 91 touchdowns, is back. So are the Ravens’ top three leading receivers from a year ago, Makenna Sturgis (1,334 yards, 25 touchdowns), Eryn Klaus (950 yards, 16 touchdowns) and Sadie Bode (842 yards, 14 touchdowns).

With so many weapons in the passing game, Alonso could put up even bigger numbers and improve upon its 37 points per game average from a year ago.

Because the offense was so prolific, the defense often was overlooked. But that unit was solid, posting 12 shutouts and allowing 96 points all of last season.

There are plenty of playmakers on that side of the ball, too.

Klaus had a team-leading 108 tackles (flag pulls) and Bodie finished with a team-high 23 sacks last season. And do not forget about the secondary, which has returners who helped the Ravens pick off 45 passes.
