Flag football: Today’s county schedules — Feb. 27

What to watch

Bloomingdale at Robinson, 7:30

The defending state champion Knights kick off the season by hosting the Bulls, who have improved steadily each of the last two years. The opener also is a chance for fans to watch the debut of Robinson quarterback Haidyn Spano, the program’s first sophomore signal caller since 2007.

Newsome at Hillsborough, 7:30

The Wolves, who reached the Class 2A state last year and won the title in 2021, travel to take on the Terriers in a matchup between consistent contenders. Hillsborough has compiled a combined 21-6 record the last two years.

Alonso at Riverview, 7:30

Ravens quarterback Mieke Rowe, who threw for 5,091 yards and 91 touchdowns last season, returns for her senior season. She will try to lead Alonso to a state title in 2A. That quest starts tonight against the Sharks, who played well against tough competition last year. Three of Riverview’s four losses were by seven points or less.

Plant at Lennard, 7:30

The Longhorns are looking to improve after losing by a point in the 2A region quarterfinals to Hillsborough last year. The Panthers also reached the region quarterfinals a year ago.
