Here are the nominees for the Hernando County baseball player of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Saturday. 

Blake Bandy, Jr., Hernando Christian: Threw five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and recording eight strikeouts in a win over First Academy.

Owen Haripersad, Sr., Springstead: Threw six innings, allowing one earned run on seven hits while striking out eight in a win over Nature Coast. 

Gavin McMurdo, Sr., Nature Coast: Threw four scoreless innings on the mound and had a homer, a single and three RBIs at the plate in a win over rival Springstead in the season opener. 

Michael Savarese, Sr., Hernando: Ended up with a perfect game, striking out all 15 batters he faced in an 11-0 win over Citrus that lasted five innings because of the mercy rule. 

Jack Strong, So., Weeki Wachee: Threw six scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out 12 in a win over Lecanto.
