Softball: Tampa Bay area pitcher of the week — March 13-18

Here are the nominees for the Tampa Bay area pitcher of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Thursday. 

Ava Braswell, Sr., Hernando: Threw a three-hitter, allowing two unearned runs while recording 17 strikeouts in a win over Lakeland McKeel Academy at the Bay Made Invitational. 

DaNia Brooks, Sr., Sickles: Ended up allowing a combined five runs (three earned) and recorded 12 strikeouts in wins over Land O’ Lakes and Durant at the Bay Made Invitational. 

KK Hollenkamp, Jr., Academy at the Holy Names: Led the Jaguars by throwing a perfect game and finishing with 12 strikeouts in a win over Shorecrest that lasted four innings because of the mercy rule. 

Cassidy Masters, Jr., Plant: Threw a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts in a win over Sickles at the Bay Made Invitational. 

Avery Powers, So., Berkeley Prep: Hurled a six-hit shutout with four strikeouts in a win over Plant in the opening round of the Bay Made Invitational. 

Jayda Smith, Sr., River Ridge: Threw a four-hitter, allowing one earned run while striking out 10 in a win over Durant in the opening round of the Bay Made Invitational. 

Morgen Talley, So., Calvary Christian: Allowed a combined three runs (two earned) while striking out 23 in four games to lead the Warriors to the Bay Made Invitational title.
