Bell Creek Academy, Keswick Christian take home SSAC titles
Two weeks ago, Bell Creek Academy and Keswick Christian won the 6A and 5A titles, respectively, at the Sunshine State Athletic Conference tournament.
The Panthers beat Winter Haven All Saints 8-3 in the final. Six different players had hits for the Panthers. Avery Long drove in two of the runs.
The Crusaders cruised to a 9-0 victory over Hernando Christian in their title game. Blake Lightfield threw a one-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts and Ryan Deorsey, Jacob Levesque and Cade Palestra each had three hits to lead Keswick Christian.
Winning is twice as nice at Gibbs
For more than a decade, Gibbs has managed to knock off an opponent to end a lengthy losing streak.
But winning two games in the same season has been elusive.
After all, the last time the Gladiators did that was in 2010.
Two weeks ago, Gibbs made it happen. Better still, the Gladiators did it in consecutive games, beating Sarasota Booker 16-5 and Gulf 7-1 the program’s first winning streak in nearly two decades.
Max Savage had a combined five hits and scored nine runs in the two games and Silas Harger threw a five-hitter against the Buccaneers.

Hernando Christian (11-9) at Seffner Christian (15-5), 4:30
This is a rematch from a game the Crusaders won 13-1 last month. Seffner Christian has won 10 straight games, the last three each by a run. The Lions are trying to rebound after losing their last four games.
Keswick Christian (12-10) at Clearwater Central Catholic (12-9), 7
The Marauders won the first meeting 14-1 earlier this month. Since that loss, the Crusaders have won four of their last five games. Clearwater Central Catholic also has momentum after winning seven of its last nine games.
