Baseball: Hillsborough County hitter of the week — May 8-15

Here are the nominees for the Hillsborough County hitter of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Monday. 

Cameron Mallo, Jr., Jefferson: Ended up going a combined 6-for-8 with a double, four RBIs and a run scored in wins over Robinson and Lakeland McKeel Academy in the Class 4A region quarterfinals and semifinals. 

Wes Mendes, Sr., Jesuit: Hit for the cycle and finished with six RBIs and two runs scored in a win over North Fort Myers in the Class 5A region quarterfinals. 

Jackson Mirza, So., Gaither: Finished a combined 4-for-8 with two doubles and three RBIs in wins over Palmetto Ridge and Riverdale in the Class 6A region quarterfinals and semifinals. 

Hershey Sanchez, Jr., Tampa Catholic: Went a combined 5-for-7 with an RBI in wins over Fort Meade and Berkeley Prep in the Class 3A region quarterfinals and semifinals. 

Noah Sheffield, Jr., Jesuit: Hit a walk-off, two-run homer in a win over Naples in the Class 5A region semifinals. 

Cassius Strayer, So., Plant: Ended up going a combined 4-for-7 with four RBIs and two runs scored in wins over Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch in the Class 7A region quarterfinals and semifinals. 

RJ Torres, So., Lennard: Finished 3-for-4 with a homer, a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored in a win over Bloomingdale in the Class 6A region quarterfinals. 

Connor Vance, Sr., Sickles: Went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a win over Lennard in the Class 6A region semifinals.
