Football: Boca Ciega’s Matt Gudorf steps down as coach — May 24

Boca Ciega coach Matt Gudorf has stepped down after two seasons.

The school announced it was looking for a new football coach on social media on Wednesday.

Gudorf, who was an assistant at the school, was promoted to head coach after Max Smith left at the end of the 2020 season. In two seasons, Gudorf went 9-12 and led the Pirates to a region quarterfinal appearance in 2021.

This is the third coaching change among Pinellas County schools this offseason. The other schools with new coaches are Gibbs (Emmerson Clarke) and Hollins (Jason Stokes).
