Baseball: Calvary Christian’s Liam Peterson named 3A player of the year

Calvary Christian’s Liam Peterson, who helped the Warriors win a state title, was named the Class 3A player of the year by the Florida Dairy Farmers.

The Florida signee, one of the three potential high draft prospects on Calvary Chrisitian’s staff, went 5-2 with a 1.78 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 39 innings.

He also stood out at the plate, batting .484 with five homers and 43 RBIs. His RBI total ranked third in the state.

Peterson’s production was key for the Warriors winning their final 10 games, culminating with a victory over North Broward Prep in the 3A title game.

The winners in each classification were selected through voting from a statewide panel of baseball coaches and media representatives. They are now eligible to be named the overall winner in the state, which will go through another round of voting and likely be announced later this week.
