Preseason matches started this week

The season started with preseason games on Tuesday.

Berkeley Prep, under new coach Sarah Reiss, lost in five sets to defending Class 7A state champion Venice.

Reiss has plenty of knowledge of the Indians. Last season, she coached Plant in a five-set region final loss to Venice.

Palm Harbor University got off to a strong start with a 2-0 victory over Robinson.

The match also was the debut for a pair of stellar freshmen, the Hurricanes’ Skylar Shepherd and the Knights’ Emmery Capra, who each are expected to have an immediate impact.
