Volleyball: The Tampa Bay Area Report — Aug. 21, 2023

Welcome to the Tampa Bay area volleyball report, your source for the latest news and updates on high school volleyball in the region. In this edition, we’ll preview the top matches for tonight’s regular season openers, as well as provide tonight’s schedules for each county.

What to watch

Pasco at Carrollwood Day, 7

The host Patriots, who reached the region semifinals in Class 3A last season, have a loaded lineup, led Naomi and Lydia Chinchar. Carrollwood Day also added some reinforcements with several transfers. The Pirates showed progress a year ago, winning their final two matches of the regular season. That momentum will be tested in a matchup against high-quality opponent in tonight’s opener.

Dunedin at Pinellas Park, 7:15

The Patriots have made steady improvement each of the last three seasons. Last year, they went 18-8. Now, the goal is to try to make the playoffs. Pinellas Park has the talent to do it with Brianna Ferreira leading the way. The first step is getting the Falcons, a team they swept last in their only regular season meeting last year.
