Football: Pinellas County Defensive Player of the Week — Week 6, Sept. 28-29, 2023

Here are the nominees for the Pinellas County defensive player of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Saturday. 

Jacob Collins, Jr., St. Petersburg: Ended up with 10 tackles, a sack and returned a fumble for a touchdown in a win over Northeast. 

Alec Dockree, Sr., Northside Christian: Finished with six tackles and returned a fumble for a touchdown in a win over St. Petersburg Catholic. 

Chase Green, Sr., Largo: Had three tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown in a win over Countryside. 

Dylan Freese, Sr., Osceola: Recorded 18 tackles and a forced fumble in a win over Seminole. 

Tyrique Harris, So., Clearwater Central Catholic: Had four tackles and 2 ½ sacks in a win over Carrollwood Day.  

Bri’an Key, So., Pinellas Park: Ended up with three tackles, an interception and returned a fumble for a touchdown in a win over Hollins. 

Brady Messick, Jr., Palm Harbor University: Finished with six tackles and three sacks in a win over Sickles. 

Jacob Taylor, Jr., East Lake: Ended up with seven tackles, two forced fumbles and 2 ½ sacks in a win over Steinbrenner. 

Nelson Sparrow, Jr., Calvary Christian: Recorded six tackles, an interception and a forced fumble in a win over Berkeley Prep.
