Jefferson (1-5) At Plant (4-2), tonight, 7:30
Three Things To Know
Back on track
After losing to Tampa Bay Tech and Berkeley Prep (a combined 9-2) the first two weeks, Plant has won four straight games to get back into playoff contention. A big key for the Panthers’ turnaround is the play of their defense, which has allowed a combined 26 points in their four wins.
Rotating quarterbacks
Plant has a surplus of quarterbacks. That depth is put to use with two quarterbacks, Trey O’Malley and JC Mirasola, sharing playing time in each game. O’Malley, a senior, has thrown for 340 yards and six touchdowns. Mirasola, a junior, has 606 yards and 10 touchdowns passing so far this season.
Jefferson looking for jumpstart
Since starting 1-1, the Dragons have lost four straight games. The struggles are due in large part to an offense that was shutout in three straight games. But there is hope. Last week, Jefferson had its most competitive game in nearly a month, losing to Blake 28-18. Ronnell Dubose was a bright spot for the Dragons, rushing for 114 yards and scoring two touchdowns on the ground against the Yellow Jackets.
