Recaps. Scores. Schedules. It’s all here in the Pinellas County football buzz.

Games of the night

Calvary Christian 27, Clearwater 3

The Warriors success has been due in large part to an offense that is averaging 35 points a game.

But the defense has delivered, too.

On Friday, Calvary Christian kept the Tornadoes out of the end zone, beating their rival to hold on to first place in Class 2M, District 7.

Air Force commit Jacob Drackett threw three touchdown passes – two to Riley Smith and one to Austin Ho. The other score was on a run by Sean Cuono.

That lead held thanks to a defense that shut out a Clearwater offense averaging 34 points a game through three quarters and allowed only a field goal.

The Warriors have allowed a combined 33 points in their five wins.

Calvary Christian can clinch the district title with a win over Dunedin on Oct. 27.

St. Petersburg 17, Pinellas Park 10

After losing its first two games to Tarpon Springs and Palm Harbor University by a combined four points, the Green Devils entered Friday’s pivotal Class 3M, District 8 game on a four-game win streak.

That momentum continued with St. Petersburg jumping out to a big lead, then holding on to move into sole possession of first place in the district.

The catalyst for the turnaround has been quarterback Jeff Jones.

A multidimensional force, Jones uses his arm – and legs – to create big plays for the Green Devils.

He scored both of St. Petersburg’s touchdowns on Friday, the last coming in the fourth quarter for a 17-3 lead. The Patriots scored once to cut the deficit but could not get any closer.

The Green Devils can clinch the district title with a win over Hollins on Oct. 26.

Largo 34, Seminole 0

For the second straight week, the Packers posted a shutout to remain in first place in Class 3M, District 7.

That sets up a showdown with Osceola in two weeks for the district title. The Warriors stayed unbeaten in district play by beating Countryside 13-10.

Last year, Osceola knocked off Largo for the district title.
