Football: Tampa Bay area defensive player of the week — Week 13, Nov. 17, 2023

Here are the nominees for the Tampa Bay area defensive player of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Wednesday. 

Zander Altieri, Sr., Calvary Christian: Finished with 10 tackles and picked off two passes in a Class 2M region semifinal win over Clearwater. 

Ty Conze, Jr., Plant: Recorded two sacks and had a blocked field goal and a fumble recovery in a Class 4M region semifinal win over Orlando Dr. Phillips.

Tyrique Harris, So., Clearwater Central Catholic: Ended up with seven tackles and three sacks in a Class 1M region semifinal win over Indian Rocks Christian. 

Antonio Henley, Jr., Gaither: Registered 11 tackles and six sacks in a Class 3M region semifinal shutout over Largo. 

Gavin Holman, Sr., Berkeley Prep: Led the defense in a Class 2M region semifinal win over Tampa Catholic. 

Se’an Sheffield, Jr., Tampa Bay Tech:  Picked off two passes, including one returned for a touchdown in a Class 3M region semifinal win over Armwood. 

Rukeem Stroud, Jr., Tampa Bay Tech: Picked off two passes, including one returned for a touchdown in a Class 3M region semifinal win over Armwood. 

Solomon Williams, Sr., Carrollwood Day: Finished with eight tackles and two sacks in a Class 1M region semifinal win over Northside Christian.
