Boys basketball: Tampa Bay area player of the week — Feb. 19, 2024

Here are the nominees for the Tampa Bay area basketball player of the week poll. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Wednesday. 

Colby Cannizzaro, Jr., Tampa Catholic: Scored a team-high 21 points in a Class 3A region quarterfinal win over Fort Myers Bishop Verot. 

Daniel Delgardo III, Sr., Leto: Led the Falcons to a Class 6A region quarterfinal win over Gaither. 

Dylan Flach, So., Jesuit: Recorded a team-high 17 points in a Class 5A region quarterfinal win over  

Danielius Gelumbauskas, Sr., Admiral Farragut: Ended up with a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) in a Class 2A region quarterfinal win over Sarasota Christian. 

Daniel MacGregor, Sr., Tampa SLAM: Finished with 14 points, six assists and three rebounds in a Class 2A region quarterfinal win over Southwest Florida Christian. 

Trey Murray, Sr., Wesley Chapel: Led the Wildcats with 26 points, six rebounds and six assists in a Class 5A region quarterfinal win over Orlando Jones. 

Joe Philon, So., Blake: Recorded a double-double (20 points, 11 rebounds) to go along with five assists and four steals in a Class 5A region quarterfinal win over Zephyrhills. 

Mathis Roberts, Jr., Gibbs: Scored a team-high 19 points in a Class 4A region quarterfinal win over Bradenton Bayshore.  

Sherwin Simmons, Jr., Lakeside Christian: Finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, six assists and six steals in a Class 2A, region quarterfinal win over Fort Myers Evangelical Christian. 

KJ Smith, Jr., Wiregrass Ranch: Led the Bulls with 16 points, nine assists and six rebounds in a Class 6A region quarterfinal win over Milton. 

Gavin Tinsley, Jr., Plant City: Finished with a double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds in a Class 7A region quarterfinal win over Plant.
