Baseball: Hillsborough County pitcher of the week — Feb. 19-24, 2024

Here are the nominees for the Hillsborough County baseball pitcher of the week poll. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Friday.

Tyler Corns, Sr., Armwood: Recorded six scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out eight in a season-opening win over Steinbrenner. 

Michael Fernandez, Sr., Gaither: Went five innings, allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out 10 in a win over Jesuit.  

Cayden Hessemyer, Sr., Steinbrenner: Tossed five scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out nine in a win over Wharton. 

Mike Mowel, Jr., East Bay: Threw a no-hit shutout (two walks away from being perfect) and recorded 12 strikeouts in a win over Spoto that was called after five innings because of the mercy rule. 

Adriano Parral, Jr., Hillsborough: Ended up going six innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out 13 in a win over Robinson. 

Blaine Rowland, Sr., Durant: Threw a one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in a win over Sickles.

Brisen Tweedy, Jr., Strawberry Crest: Hurled five scoreless innings, giving up three hits while striking out six in a win over Bloomingdale.
