Baseball: Tampa Bay area report — March 18, 2024

Welcome to the Tampa Bay area baseball report. We’ve got two games worth checking out tonight, as well as a complete county-by-county schedule rundown.

What to watch tonight

Largo (6-2) at Countryside (6-3), 7

The Packers, winners of four straight games, are off to their best start in 27 years thanks to a pitching staff that has allowed an average of two runs per game and has given up just two in the last three games. The host Cougars, meanwhile, rebounded from a two-game losing streak to beat IMG Blue and Cypress Creek by a combined 17-2 before the start of spring break.

Durant (7-2) at Bloomingdale (5-4), 7

The Hillsborough County rivals are trying to back on track after each went .500 at the Saladino Tournament. The matchup also features plenty of power pitching with each staff having at least two starters who have racked up 20 or more strikeouts this season.
